Jeff Turley, M.D. Bio
Dr. Jeff Turley is a board certified child psychiatrist practicing since
1985. He has a small private practice, is the Medical Director of North River Counseling
in Marshfield, Massachusetts, works as a staff child psychiatrist for
South Shore Mental Health, and consults for several school systems on the south
shore of the Boston area. He is the psychiatric consultant to
the federal/state cooperative effort,
Pathways, made possible by
a grant from the Executive Office of Health and Human Services and the
Massachusetts Department of Social Services.
Dr. Turley was raised in Montana, the oldest child of hard-working and loving
parents. His father was a school teacher and his mother a small business
owner. He moved with his family to Charlottesville, Virginia when he was
a teenager. His college education was at the United States Air Force
Academy and Virginia Tech, where he was admitted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor
society. Once he was accepted to medical school, Dr. Turley
won a prestigious Health Professions Scholarship from the United States Air
Force. He graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in
1985 and completed his residencies in General Adult Psychiatry and Child and
Adolescent Psychiatry in 1990.

Dr. Turley entered military service the same summer that Kuwait was invaded
by Iraq. He was immediately deployed to Germany where he was a part of the
armed services medical response to the Gulf War. As a part of those duties
he cared for the dependent children of servicemen and women deployed to the war.
He was chosen by his commander to be the team psychiatrist on repatriation
missions to Turkey. The repatriation team were the first clinicians
available to American and British hostages released by their captors in the
middle east. He was promoted to the rank of Major, and tasked with
designing and leading child and adolescent psychiatric services for military
populations all over Europe and the Middle East.
Dr. Turley's civilian jobs have included leadership positions as Medical Director of child and adolescent psychiatry hospital wards, a residential treatment center, and an inpatient unit for treating adolescent sexual offenders. Read his Curriculum Vitae
Dr. Turley and his wife have celebrated their 25th year of marriage. They have two grown children who are excellent students and accomplished musicians. Anna, 21, is a senior at the University of Delaware. Mike, 19, is a freshman at Northeastern University.
Dr. Turley is an enthusiastic skier and skater. He sings with the
SnugTones, a local Jazz and Pop sextet.
